Can't Believe It's Been 2 Years

Cant believe its been 2 years since you left us, since God helped you find your way to Heaven. Since I last saw you, since i last touched your fur. Since i last held you in my arms and gave you kiss.

Buster was a very special dog to me. He was the first dog i had ever had. & his story is something i love telling people.

I wasnt born when Buster came into our family. He was born in 1992. We adopted him on October 12, 1997. He was
my brothers 2nd birthday present. He was a 7 year old beagle/shepherd mix, who was brought to the shelter because his owner could no longer afford him. He was the only dog who didnt bark at the MSPCA. My brother had
loved the show "Arthur", some kid show about an aardvark & his friends. One of Arthurs friends was a bunny named "Buster", so when Bryton found out the dogs name, he was thrilled!

A couple days after bringing home the addition, he was hit by a car. His back legs were in bad shape, but my grandfather payed lots of money to due surgrey to save his legs. So from then, he walked around sorta with a limp, one leg was all scared up, the other was "sewed" back on. He was special, because he made love animals. He was my world, only being so young at the time. As i got older, i still appreciated that dog. But at the same, i started to be maturer, & hang with friends, & not really worry about him as much. As time past, Busters nicknames, "Bionic dog, the dog with 9 lives.." came true. I had started calling him "My floppy eared camel" due to the fact that he was indeed fat, but also had some sorta.. fat lumps on him.

Time went by when he developed a cataract in his eye, causing his eye to swell almost out, & loose his vision. Seeing how the eye was useless to Buster, the vets removed it. There I changed his name to "One Eyed Floppy Eared Camel." I do remember one event that i have not forgotten. At this time, i was young, and could barely remember how all this happened.

One night, i believe on my grandmothers birthday (since my mom & grandparents were at a party for her) i was watching my little brother with my step sister (at the time) Emily. We were trying to put Hayden to bed, when we heard a car screaching. Me & Emily decided out of curiousity to go check it out. We walked outside to see one of my neighbors, & the people who drove the car standing over an animal. As i crossed the street, i gasped as i realized it was the outline of Buster. I burst into tears & shouted "Its Buster!" Everyone looked up at us, even Buster. I ran over & got down on my knees. They tried to explain to me what was wrong with him, but i didnt really pay attention. Emily had called my mom & told her what happened. She was also staying inside the house with Hayden. I stayed with Buster. At one point through the night Buster had tried to walk. It killed me when he tried to stand & yelped in pain & fell over, only then did i realize that not only did the car had hit him, but it had ran over his tail & completely teared the skin & fur from his bone. It scared me. My mom finally made it, which seemed like forever, & ran over to us. She fell on her knees over Buster & was just crying. They rushed Buster to the vets, & i had to deal with the thought of that for the night.

Buster made it out fine. Infact, he came out like it was nothing. He was walking, begging for food, & sleeping. Just like the old Buster. Only difference was that when he was happy, he wagged a flab of skin stitched to where his tail should be, instead of his bushy big tail. & there he was finally known as my "Little Stumpy Tailed One Eyed Floppy Eared Camel". Telling Busters story to people made them smile & they couldnt help laugh but see him.

In December of 2009, our other dog, Tobey was put to sleep. When he had died, i had lots of trouble getting over it. But when i was able to get through days, i started to pay more & more attention to Buster & Jazz.

"The Original Cape Cod Crew"

Around Febuary was when we all realized Buster had lost alotta weight. He was no longer that sausage with beagle legs, but.. skinny. I could pick him & feel his ribs, something i never was able to do. Even though he ate, he lost weight. Another thing we noticed is that if he fell or was knocked over, he couldnt get back up unless we helped him up. In March, the signs got worse. He had gotten to the point where he could no longer walk. He would go to the bathroom where he sat. & he was suffering. I was only hoping Buster would get over thise phase, just like every other thing he came over. My dream had came true in a way.

On April 7th, 2010, i was in the kitchen getting ready for the school. I had heard my mom crying, & my step dad at the time were talking in the bathroom. My mom was crying & saying something i dont really remember, but i knew they were talking about Buster. Tim walked in the kitchen & told me & my brother to go see my mom. My mom told me that she was going to take Buster to the vet, & she wasnt sure he was gonna come back. My day at school wasnt fun. When i got home, I realized Buster was gone.

Losing Buster was a lost.. to everyone really. Everyone loved him. Everyone knew him. My great grandmother cried. My grandmother told me that when my mom had called her to tell her the news, there was a baby beagle that walked by & that that was Buster saying goodbye to her because she wasnt able too.

Having spent literally everyday with that dog, and to realize that that would no longer happen really affected me. His memory, & story will live in my heart.

We miss you Buster Brown! We love you!

Sad News Friday

Huxley died today. I came home and was about to feed the fishes, when i noticed he wasnt in his bowl. He had jumped out of his bowl, which is a very common for Betta Fish to do. It was really sad to think he died that way. I had a cover on his tank, with only a space open so i can put food in. He must've known where it was open. We sure will miss him :(

By the way, moms friend took my memory card to my camera, so we arent able to take pictures. We will get back, ASAP, we sure miss blogging!

The Betta Blog

Happy Monday everyone. So sorry we did not blog yesterday, I'm still not feeling better. In fact,
i stayed home today. Jazz & Felix are being my little nurses for the day :)

Today i felt like sharing some of the smallest members of the Cape Cod Crew.. my 7 betta fish! I adore these fish, they are so peaceful and very entertaining to watch. Call me crazy, but i love them like i love Jazz, Felix & Freedom, and i do my best to keep them as healthy & happy as can be!

Candi was the first ever betta fish i took home. She was actually a late birthday present. I bought her on February 27, 2011. She is a veiltail female betta. Candi is a pretty unqiue fish cause of her color. She looks white, but really she doesnt have a color! Shes a cellophane! A cellophane betta is a betta who is pretty much clear, and you can see right through her. You cant really see through her clearly.

The second fish i had bought was Wishy. Wishy came home on March 6, 2011. Wishy & Candi were supposed to share a bowl (female bettas can share bowls if they get along) Unforntuatly, Candi did not like Wishy, so i had to move Wishy out to her own bowl. Wishy is a crowntail female, and a very dark beautiful blue coloring. Shes one of the sweetest fish.

Merci came home on March 19, 2011. She is like a minature Candi, but a little brighter. She is a cellophane too, with a weird black spot on the side of her neck. I had noticed merci for a while in the pet store, because of that spot. When i saw her that day, i thought she spent way to long in that container. So, i took her home. She now lives with Wishy in Wishys bowl. Those two are inseprable, and get along great with each other. Merci can sometimes be a bully to Wishy, but they never get serious.

Nemo was my third betta, and my first male. He came home March 13, 2011. Hes a crowntail male of a rusty red color with yellow sparkles. Hes very hansome. When i was in PetCo, i was looking for a new betta fish, and when i looked up, i noticed Nemo looking at me. I just had to take him home. I named him Nemo, because he "found his way home."

I dont know why i named Huxley that name, but i like the name a lot.
It was March 30, 2011 when i took home Huxley. He is a very beautiful crowntail like Nemo. Huxley seems like a dark blue color, but hes actually a dark green blue with little reds on his tail. He was so scared of me at first, and he still gets scared, but he has gotten much better with me.

Job is a very special betta. I never intended on buying him on August 3rd, 2011. When i was in PetCo, he was very close to death, and i felt like giving him a chance to live. So i took him home and set him in a bowl. He luckily pulled through, and is still with me now. "Job" (pronouced Joeb) is a character in the Christian Bible who had a rough beginning but a happy ending. I felt like the name suited him much. He is orangeish red delta tail.

The most current newest betta i have is Yuki. I got him on December 18, 2011. He is a blue veiltail. "Yuki" is japensanse for snow. I named him that because 12-18, it was snowing (barely..). Im hoping he will warm up to me soon.

Well, those are our finned friends. If you have any fish (betta or not!) we'd be happy to hear about them:)

This isnt 2 inches?

Its a Snow Day in MA!

Yikes, i woke up and there was more snow. There was only supposed to be 2 inches coming, but we got a lot more than that. I am under weather, so i stayed in bed for half the morning. I couldnt resist, no matter how sick i felt, i had to bring the dogs & Freedom outside. Jazz ran around with Felix and eve tried playing with Freedom. Felix was just in a wonderland, he really likes the snow! When i put the crew inside, i noticed our neighbors dog walking around. I went outside again, barefoot and coatless, and came over to the dog. Felix and Jazz managed to run out behind me. Thanks to them, they kept the dog, whos name is Pharoh, occupied while i ran inside to get boots and a leash. After they played and ran around, i was able to get the dogs inside and returned Pharoh back home. We hope yor having safe & fun snow days too!

Snow?? Indeed!!

Lookee here! We got some of that white stuff! It all came last night, only a couple inches tho. I personally dont like snow, but only on christmas do I! But I was excited to see the first snow of the season. So i got Felix & Jazz and put them in the yard. I got Freedom in his harness and took him outside.

Jazz doesnt like snow. & Felix seems to love it. He kept trying to eat it. This is my first experience seeing Felix in the snow.

This is the same story for Freedom. I had gotten him in the spring time last year, so this was also, my first experience seeing him in the snow. & i might be wrong, but it may also be his first time in the snow!

He didnt seem to like it that much............ Afterward sometime playing (falling on my butt two times cause of Felix) i brought them back inside, and got them cuddled up for warmth!

Happy Snow Day!!
